I use a slightly lighter weight canvas for my placemats than I do for my floorcloths. This is so they have a lower profile to the table top. Other than that the process is pretty much the same. I stretch and prime the canvas using artist quality, flexible gesso. I paint them using high quality, fade resistant, acrylics and finish with at least 3 coats of flexible, non-yellowing polyurethane. The backs are also primed and painted, and have a coat of poly to protect them from spills. They have a glued and heat pressed 1" hem to prevent fraying. My Black Horse Floorcloth logo is on the back along with my signature.
They are easy to clean with a damp cloth and are great for people with allergies and pets since there are no fibers to collect dust or fur.
Colors used: Yarmouth Blue, Oxford White, on Graham Cracker.
